Food AA style: Jai Thai ( Purvis Street)

It's been some time since we last blogged.
a week to be exact, and we have so many pending posts to be updated!
this is what happens when work crept up on you unknowingly.

Im now on my way to meet my girlfriends for brunch down at GRUB and thought I ought to share about this other place we went last weekend : JAI THAI.

I suppose JAI THAI is not foreign to many food enthusiast.
They already have a couple of successful branches around Singapore,
and 'T' and I visited the one on purvis street. :)

First Word: CHEAP AND GOOD
Yes indeed.
We got ourselves a set dinner for 2 @ $24:

1. A WHOLE FISH, cooked in any way you desire. ( but it got to be on e menu)
We chose the deep fried fish in garlic sauce.

2. What's Thai without Tom Yum Soup?
Looks mild but It's really kinda spicy? I couldn't feel my lips after more than a couple of mouthful!

THIS reminds me a lot of what we previously had at Shing Thai Palace.
It's good, but we thought it'll be better if it was a little sweeter.

and yeah, some greens :)

pretty wholesome for a $24 meal.

We added on:

Mix platter!
Im telling you, every item on this mix platter is just delicious.
I haven't had like nice prawn toast for a SUPER LONG TIME.
The ones I used to like at Thai Express, are now simply mouthfuls of oil.

Lastly,
what's Thai food w/o Mango Sticky Rice??
You can definitely see the level of seriousness the people at Jai Thai placed into their food just by judging the effort  placed into their dessert.

They took e liberty to warm the coconut milk ( definitely not those poured through a coconut milk packet)
and even the rice is chewy and moist.

The last we had something this good?
It was at Thai Thai over at Mandarin Gallery  before it closed. Whatsmore they were a Thai fine-dining place and we had to pay over $10 for a plate of mango sticky rice.
Over here? it's only $5 and it's equally good!

Final Verdict?:
Ditch the Thai Fast Food in your local malls or the Fine Dining who serves you Tom yum soup in little bowls.
Go in search for Affordable and Aunthentic Thai food instead!:)

Really AA huh! haha!

Tip: their place is pretty small; so maybe you want to call to see if they accept reservations for big group:))

hope this helps!

love,
S.
